From what I understand from one of the shopkeepers I speak to regularly (Pete, who's usually on weekday morning duty), the shop itself does okay financially.

I am told the manager has many ideas about how he could improve things (mainly if he had more freedom about what he could order) but his hands are largely tied by 'head office' and both he and the people on the till are often frustrated as a result.

Problems are further compounded by that fact that NISA will only deliver once a week rather than the twice a week deliveries they used to get, and their policy is to deliver on large pallets they leave behind which our shop doesn't have the room to store.

I am not entirely sure how it all fits together, but I believe there's also some 'layer' between the local shop manager and NISA too (possibly a 'franchise' layer of some sort) to further complicate matters.

So there's a clue as to who made my 'virtual birthday cake'!
